Shamshabad airport ranks eighth-best in world listing

Hamad international airport of Doha, Qatar, Tokyo International Airport of Japan and the Athens International Airport in Greece top the list.

Hyderabad: The Shamshabad airport has been voted the world’s eighth best by AirHelp, that assists air passengers exercise their rights and works towards getting them compensation for delayed or cancelled flights.

The worst on the list are Eindhoven airport in the Netherlands, the Kuwait International Airport and the Lisbon Portela airport of Portugal.

Air Help gave the city airport 8.27 points out of 10. Airports were rated on on-time performance (60 per cent), service quality (20) and food and shopping options (20 per cent). RGIA received 7.8 for on-time performance. 9 on service quality and 8.8 on food and shops. On this parameter, it was behind only Singapore Changi’s.

Air India was the only Indian airline and was ranked at 37 out of 72. Qatar Airways topped the list followed by American Airlines and Aeromexico. The worst were Easyjet and Thomas Cook Airlines and No. 71 and 72.
