Kollam: The family of the Rajasthani girl who was abducted from Oachira and later rescued has left for their hometown abandoning their livelihood of clay modelling.
The family had been in Kollam selling clay sculptures on the wayside for the past two years. However, the girl refused to go with the family and opted to stay in a women’s home in Kollam.
The girl was abducted by a gang beating up her parents before she was dragged into a rented car around 10 pm on March 18. Muhammad Roshan, 21, Ananthu, 20, Bipin, 20, and Pyari, 19, are defendants in remand charged under sections of POCSO.
The police brought the girl back along with the prime accused Muha-mmad Roshan from Panvel in Mumbai. While his relatives alleged she was not minor, the police received a copy of the girl’s school transfer certificate that recorded her birthdate to be in September 2001, proving that she is.
The police team had extended their investigation to the school at Rampura in Rajasthan from where her transfer certificate has been procured, to verify the authenticity of the document.
It has also been found that the girl studied till Class III and belonged to Scheduled Caste.
The prime accused was earlier charged with rape following a medical test confirmed sexual assault.
According to the police, Muhammad Roshan had taken the girl to Bengaluru in a train from Kochi and then to Mumbai. The police team traced a phone call made by his relative to Mumbai.
