Hyderabad: Run over by police van, girl critical
Hyderabad: An Armed Reserve Head Constable of the Rachakonda police commissionerate was arrested for negligence after he rammed his vehicle into a 3-year-old girl while she lay asleep in the premises of the old Yadagirigutta temple during wee hours of Thursday.
The girl suffered severe injuries on her head and abdomen and is currently undergoing treatment at Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar. Her health condition has been stated to be critical.
The victim, P. Pranita, daughter of one Mr Mallesh, along with her parents and relatives, had visited the Yadagirigutta temple from Saroornagar on Wednesday. The family decided to spend the night in the temple premises and chose to sleep in the open space near the temple.
During the wee hours on Thursday, a police van (TS 09PA 5508) that was driving past the area hit the girl, who was asleep under a tree next to her father. As a result, the girl suffered severe injuries on her head and abdomen. She was immediately rushed to the hospital in the same vehicle.
The vehicle was being driven by the Armed Reserve Head Constable Shekhar, who had been posted at the Rachakonda police commissionerate headquarters.
