Use portal to file complaints online

According to sources, the police will also launch a mobile app of Thuna in six months.

Thiruvananthapuram: 'The Hand U Need for Assistance' or Thuna, a citizen portal of the state police launched on Tuesday, offers a host of online services to the common man, including filing complaints and tracking status, checking accident history of vehicles and submitting applications.

According to sources, the police will also launch a mobile app of Thuna in six months.

The citizen portal (thuna.keralapolice.gov.in) is part of the crime and criminal tracking networks and systems (CCTNS) that connects all police stations across the country. However, it now offers information regarding the state police only.

Following are the services available on the citizen portal:

Petition registration and tracking: The public can file petitions online to any police station and higher officials. They can also check their status online.
FIR: One can view and download the first-information-reports of cases registered at all police stations.

Details of criminals and missing persons: Get information of those arrested as well as wanted persons. It also provides information on the missing.
Informer: Pass on secret information on suspicious activities or persons.

Automobile enquiry and NOC: The portal provides information on pending cases against a vehicle.

This option would be useful to those buying used cars. Applications for no-objection-certificates for vehicles could be submitted and obtained online. Once the national database is integrated with Thuna, details of cases against vehicles in other states could also be checked.

Certificates and sanctions: Applications for various certificates like police verification certificate and police clearance certificate, seeking permission for public meetings, demonstrations and using mikes can be submitted and obtained on the portal.

Library: It also offers a host of information regarding important court verdicts, police instructions and crime statistics.
