Jishnu Prannoy father ready to pay back govt aid'

Ashokan made it clear that whatever the Government had given them could not replace their son.

Thiruvananthapuram: Mr Ashokan, father of Jishnu Prannoy who committed suicide following alleged harassment by the management of Nehru College of Engineering, Pambadi, said that they were ready to give back the financial aid given by the government following the death of his son, as the police had failed to nab even one person responsible for Jishnu’s death. Ashokan made it clear that whatever the Government had given them could not replace their son. “If justice is denied, we are ready to give Rs 20 lakh instead of the 10 lakh given by the government,” he said.

He added, “We want the guilty to be nabbed and we will not withdraw our demand. The police have not been able to arrest even one person since three months of my son's death.” He said that he had been working for the Communist party for the last 32 years. “It is really sad the neglect shown by the party. A person like me is not ready to tolerate the stand taken by the government,” Ashokan said. His comment assumes significance as Chief Minister has justified the police action against Jishnu’s family but at the same time he has said that his government would always be with the family and “will ensure care and attention for the mother who lost her child.
