IG Manoj Abraham report sees conspiracy of aides', no cop to face music
Thiruvananthapuram: Inspector General (Thiruvananthapuram Range) Manoj Abraham has submitted an enquiry report stating that there was a conspiracy by those who accompanied Jishnu Prannoy's parents to police headquarters on Wednesday. The probe report submitted to state police chief did not recommend any action against police but only said the protest could have been tackled with more caution. According to sources, the government may initiate some namesake action against officers considering the strong demand by Jishnu's parents and the public outrage.
According to the IG's report, SUCI leader Shajar Khan had made constant telephone calls with Jishnu's uncle, Sreejith, in the days ahead. Solidarity Movement leader Noushad was also present along with the family while they went to the police headquarters. These strengthen the possibility of a conspiracy to stage a demonstration inside. Hence, the police decision not to allow all of them to meet the police chief could be justified. The report also said that a detailed probe into the conspiracy was being carried out as part of a case registered against five persons in this connection.
The IG also denied allegations that Jishnu's mother Majiha was dragged and booted by the police. The video footage of the commotion, as well as the medical records, disproved it, said the report. Meanwhile, there were allegations that the police was wrongly framing controversial godman Himaval Bhadrananda alias thokku swami also as a conspirator accompanying her. He was said to have come to meet the state police chief.
