Govt would not allow police to be defamed: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Thrissur: Chief Ministyer Pinarayi Vijayan has thrown his weight behind the police force, which got flak for alleged highhandedness in their treatment of Jishnu Pranoy’s mother and other relatives when they turned up at the DGP’s office in Thiruvanathapuram on Wednesday to meet the DGP to express their concerns over the inquiry into Jishnu Pranoy suicide case, Mr Vijayan said here on Sunday that his government would not allow the police to be cornered over false allegations.
While speaking after taking the salute at the passing out parade of the new batch of 60 general executive sub-inspectors at the Kerala Police Academy here, Mr Vijayan said that the government would not allow the police to be defamed. “If police commit mistakes, action will definitely be taken against them. The Police need to maintain a humane approach towards complainants and should not take their job as a licence to take on the public,” he said.
