Kite festival attracts hundreds to Bekal
Lions Club in cooperation with tourism dept organizes the special festival.

KASARGOD: The Kite festival, organised under the joint auspices of Lions Club of Bekal, Tourism Development Corporation and Kasargod District Tourism Council, started at Bekal on Saturday.
Sub-collector Mrunmayi Joshi Shashank inaugurated the kite fest. Bekal Forts Lions Club president Khalid C Palakki presided over the function. “Kathakali Kite” of One India Kite team of Kozhikode was the chief attraction of the fest.
The first-of-its-kind to be held in north Malabar, the fest has the participation of 10 major kites such as circle kite, pilot kite, teddy bear kite, Russian kite, rainbow kites etc.
Hundreds of women and children were present to witness as well as to participate in the kite festival. Media convener Haroon Chithari said that more than 150 persons participated in the children’s, couples and public section. A photography competition also was held in connection with the kite festival. The results of the competitions would be announced on Sunday.
