Bengaluru: Strangers act out of kindness, not once but twice!
Bengaluru: It’s one thing when a friend reaches out to help you. Nothing is more heartwarming, however, than the kindness of strangers, especially those who stop to lend a helping hand in the dead of night.
Javed, a journalist, was riding home after work at about 1 am, with no inkling of what was in store that night. His bike stopped functioning in the middle of an isolated road, leaving him with no choice but to push the vehicle as far as he could. As he trudged along toward his house, which was more than 15 kilometres away, he was hit by a car which knocked him over and sped off.
He lay on the road, his ankle in agony. “A man rode by, saw me and immediately rushed to help,” said Javed. “He removed my helmet, repeatedly asking me if I was alright. He asked, over and over, what he could do to help,” said a shaken but elated Javed, who had fractured his ankle bone and was in immense pain.
The Good Samaritan refused to leave Javed’s side until the latter stood up on his own. “He stayed even then, offering to do more. I was really touched by his gesture. I told him I was okay to stand and got up. We shook hands and he left,” Javed said.
That was not all! Noticing Javed struggle with his bike, a local auto driver rushed to his aid. He helped Javed onto his bike and pushed it from the back with one foot as he rode along in his auto, all to ensure he reached home. The kind auto driver even helped Javed up the stairs, to his house on the first floor!
Police swung into action at once too and tracked down the car responsible for the accident in double quick time. Javed is now resting at home with his fractured leg in a cast. There’s a lot of bad in this world, but plenty of good, too!
