Attukal temple festival has 3100 cops for security

Sniffer dogs, door framed metal detectors, hand held metal detectors, drones and around 70 CCTVs have been deployed.

Thiruvananthapuram: The city police has deployed some 3100 officers to ensure security for Attukal temple festival on Saturday. The festival zone has been divided into two with 27 sectors. DCP Arul R.B. Krishna and DCP (administration) P.N. Ramesh Kumar will commandeer around 35 assistant commissioners and DYSPs and 400 sub-inspectors (law and order). Apart from this, commandos, rapid action force and lady commando have been fielded in for duty.

Sniffer dogs, door framed metal detectors, hand held metal detectors, drones and around 70 CCTVs have been deployed. The police has barred organisations from installing temporary pandals roadside and action will be taken against abuse of microphones, city police commissioner Sparjan Kumar said in a statement.

All the organisations serving food will have to be registered under food and safety. Also, ambulance staff and Pongala related emergency vehicles should wear identity cards all the time. Those noticing suspicious people and objects should alert police control room at 100 or call Attukal Special control room number 0471-2455028.
