Bengaluru: Water tanker topples, kills bystander

Bengaluru: A 45-year-old Swiggy delivery man died on the spot after a speeding water tanker toppled and crushed him along with his bike in HSR Layout traffic police station limits early Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Veerabadhra, a resident of Rajarajeshwarinagar and hails from Mysuru.

 

Police said the accident happened around 3:45 am near Outer Ring Road junction under the flyover in HSR Layout. Veerabadhra was reportedly standing on the roadside near his bike opposite to Columbia Asia hospital.

Just then a speeding water tanker arrived and the driver lost control over the vehicle and it toppled. It dragged on and crashed on Veerabadhra along with his two wheeler. He died on the spot.

The police said the tanker driver climbed out of the vehicle and fled. The HSR Layout traffic police have registered a case and seized the vehicle.

The police have shifted the body to St. Johns hospital for postmortem and alerted Veerabadhra’s family members.
