VS Achuthanandan launches Haritha Keralam
Thiruvananthapuram: Administrative Reforms Commission chairman V.S. Achuthanandan inaugurated the Haritha Kerala Mission at the corporation level. He said the Navakerala Mission was conceived by the government to take Kerala to great heights. He said that its objective were progress in the fields of education, health and social status. The former chief minister said that as times changed, lifestyles changed and this was what created issues relating to waste management. He said that the pollution of air threatened the existence of every living being. The corporation collected plastic from various wards. It was handed over to the agency which links corporation with recycling companies in Nagercoil.
As part of the Mission’s activities, the waste in Chirakkulam Colony was removed. This was inaugurated by minister for welfare of scheduled castes A.K. Balan. He visited various houses in the colony to spread awareness on the mission’s objectives and activities. The meeting was presided over by Mayor V.K. Prasanth. V.S. Sivakumar, MLA, Rakhi Ravikumar and Health Standing Committee chairperson K. Sreekumar spoke. Other councillors, Kudumbashree workers, school students and health officials were present.
