MGS Narayanan lambasts snub by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board

Vellimadukunnu road project omitted'

Kozhikode: When four other road development projects were approved and funds sanctioned in Kozhikode district, Dr M.G.S. Narayanan, the patron of Mananchira- Vellimadukunnu Road Action Committee, alleges Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) deliberately omitted it. He said, “Our massive protest campaign was withdrawn with the assurance from finance minister Thomas Isaac (to include the road among KIIFB projects)."

"This is indeed a shock to us. We suspect a conspiracy behind this." Entrusting Kozhikode North MLA A. Pradeep Kumar with the responsibility, Mr Isaac directed that a high-level meeting is called with the works and revenue departments, Road Fund Board and the mayor and also the committee members. Based on this, works minister G. Sudhakaran prepared a detailed estimate with an addition of Rs 284 crore to the Rs 64 crore already sanctioned."

"In spite of taking all the necessary actions for implementation, why did KIFBI ignore us?" he asked. The Rs 18-crore Balussery road, Rs 12.45-crore Muttuggal Nadapuram- Pakrathalam road and Rs 6.3-crore for Easthill- Ganapathi Kavu road at Karaparamba are part of the KIIFB projects.
