Laknavaram festival best getaway for Dasara

Jungle safari, lake view, boating, trekking in store for tourists.

Warangal: With the Dasara holidays starting from Tuesday, the Eturnagaram wildlife sanctuary is offering tourists a 24-hour stay by the Laknavaram lake, 75 km from Warangal.

At the ‘Laknavaram festival’, the Jayashankar Bhupalapalli forest department will allow tourists to spend 24 hours by the lakside and provide some activities.

District forest officer T. Ravi Kiran said the festival would be held every day from 4 pm to 4 pm the next day. It includes a jungle safari, lake view safari, boating, trekking, cycling, bullock cart ride, night camping and bonfire. Besides, there is the beautiful suspension bridge connecting the island with the mainland.

“The festival begins with cycling on the mud road abutting the Laknavaram lake for 2.6 km, viewing various aspects of the forest for about two hours. Tents are erected at the camping site for the night. There will be a bonfire and fun activities,” Mr Kiran said.

“The site is suitable for bird watching in the morning. After visiting the suspension bridge, the tourists take a boat ride to another island where they will trek. There is a chance to see several species of deer. Later on, tourists can take bullock carts rides and the lake view safari,” the official said.

Ecotourism coordinator K. Suman said the cost per person per day is '2,000 which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner with authentic Telangana dishes.
