Minister VS Sunil Kumar promises four new bio-input centres

Thrissur: Four new centres for production of bio-inputs will be established in the state to ensure their easy availability, minister for agriculture V.S. Sunil Kumar has said. Speaking after inaugurating a seminar on banana cultivation and releasing three organic pesticides - Nandakumar, Menma and Sreya- for banana developed by the Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram in Thrissur on Sunday, Sunil Kumar announced insurance coverage for all types of banana cultivation.

He also asked the scientists to propagate advanced post harvest technology for capacity building of the farming community. The function jointly organised by Thrissur Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) under the Kerala Agricultural University and Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council (VFPCK) on Saturday was presided over by K. Rajan MLA. KAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. P.Rajendran released the micro nutrient mixture for banana. Block Panchayat President Y.S. Umadevi, Panchayat President Mini Unnikrishnan and farmers' representatives spoke. KVK head Dr.A.Prema welcomed the gathering and VFPCK district manager Amja proposed the vote of thanks.
