Governor P Sathasivam, Minister Kadakampally Surendran receive President at Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: President Ram Nath Kovind was accorded a formal reception by Governor P. Sathasivam and tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran when he arrived here to take part in the birthday celebration of Mata Amritananda Mayi at Amrithanandamyi Math in Vallikkavu. The helicopter carrying the President reached the helipad at NTPC by 10 am. After attending the function, Mr Kovind returned to Delhi by around 1 pm.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala , who was took part of reception, alleged that it was protocol violation not allowing him to receive the President before officials. Mr Chennithala said that he has lodged a complaint to the private secretary of president pointing out the violation of protocol. Governor and minister first received the President. Then district police chief S. Surendran and collector T.V. Anupama welcomed the president. Mr Chennithala said that he and K.C. Venugopal, MP, was allowed to receive the President only after reception accorded by officials.
