Centre's Prasad scheme to boost Simhachalam temple

Simhachalam Temple has been sanctioned ₹55 crore for taking up numerous development works.

Visakhapatnam: Lord Narasimha Swamy Temple in Simhachalam of Visakhapatnam is set to receive a boost under the Prasad scheme announced by the central government.

Under the scheme, Simhachalam Temple has been sanctioned ₹55 crore for taking up numerous development works.

In this regard, revenue commissioner Satyanarayana, additional commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan, Simhachalam EO V. Trinadha Rao, trust board members Gantla Srinu Babu, Dinesh Raj, Sampangi Srinu and Doddi Ramana inspected various areas of Simhachalam temple on Friday.

Speaking to media, commissioner Satyanarayana said the existing Pushkarani Satram had been built more than four decades ago. A new satram will be built in its place. The marriage hall in its middle will, however, remain in its place. The Agama School built in 1936 will be shifted to a new place and a new building. The existing school building will be modernised and used for other purposes. The office of the devasthanam EO also needs to be constructed, Satyanarayana said.

Officials said ample parking facilities will be provided at the second tollgate, with the space provided by the tourism department.
