Sreevalsam group boss' husband found hanging
Alappuzha: Krishnan, 63, husband of Sreevalsam group manager Radhamani, was found hanging at his home Sreelakam in Haripad on Friday. He was alone in the house as Radhamani, who has been facing allegations of amassing illegal wealth, was being treated at a private hospital in Ernakulam after she developed migraine a few days ago. Radhamani had allegedly picked up a fight with her husband before she went to the hospital. Krishnan was assisting her in her business with the Sreevalsam group.
“If there is any foulplay in the incident, it will be known only after post-mortem on Saturday,” said Mr T. Manoj, Circle Inspector, Haripad. “Krishnan’s brother who is in Nagaland called me and requested me to keep the body till he reaches here on Saturday. So the body has been kept at the taluk hospital here,” the CI said. The police registered a case under section 174 of Cr.PC for unnatural death. The police said that Krishnan had called up his mother-in-law around 10 p.m. on Thursday and told her that he would commit suicide as he was unable to bear the pressure from business dealings.
She sent some of her relatives to Krishnan's home and they asked him to go along with them to his wife’s house. However, he promised to reach there later. When they called him around 11. 30 p.m, there was no response. They found him hanging from the wooden beam of his room on Friday morning, the CI said. The Income Tax department had earlier raided the office of Sreevalsam group in Nagaland and unearthed assets worth '400 crore. The IT sleuths also raided the house of Radhamani at Haripad. The group had invested in land at Haripad and set up a textile shop here.
