Pipeline work this month: VKC Mammed Koya
Kozhikode: The work to lay water pipeline in Beypore will start this month but the work in Karuvanthuruthi and Feroke could be delayed as the tender process has been halted due to technical issues, V.K.C. Mammed Koya, MLA, has said. Beypore and its adjoining areas were worst affected by drinking water shortage last summer in Kozhikode district. Permission has been granted to dig 1,200 metres more of the road to lay the pipelines, he said, adding that once the work was done, the water shortage in Beypore area will be solved.
“However, the Kerala Water Authority is yet to approve the tender process for the work in areas such as Feroke due to the difference in percentage rate quoted and the stipulated rate,” he said. “We hope that the issue can be resolved fast.” Mr Koya said water tanks had already been filled but pipe-laying had to be completed for full-fledged water supply in the area. “Water tanks are ready to use at Feroke, Kadalundi and Beypore near BC Road,” he said. “I will take steps to hasten the pipe-laying process.”
