Telangana encourages roof top solar installations
Hyderabad: State government has set up a cell to provide information about domestic solar power units that can be installed on roof tops. Reports said that people are gradually taking to solar energy as it can cut their electricity bills. Though the upfront cost of installation of a rooftop net monitoring system is high, it is inexpensive in the long run as generating solar energy is practically free.
Mr G. Raghuma Reddy, CMD, Southern Discom, said, “The department has a special cell which provides information about solar energy and the empanelled agencies which install the rooftop net monitoring system. This solar energy technique is feasible for both urban and rural areas.”
He said that the state was producing 3,600 MW every month through solar energy and this was is a major achievement. Mr Reddy said solar energy reduces carbon dioxide output and is therefore beneficial for the environment. It also cuts down the electricity bills.
