Oriental insurance staff convicted

The CBI found that Damodar and the others had entered into a criminal conspiracy and caused a loss of Rs 57.07 lakh.

Hyderabad: The additional principal special judge for CBI cases has convicted three officers and several staff of Oriental Insurance (OI) for serious irregularities in the settlement of claims and sent them to jail.

The court sentenced senior manager Suresh Damodar, branch manager Vinay Kumar Chengalpattu and administrative officer Shiva Kumar Yeramalla to three years in jail.

Four others, surveyors Venkata Krishna Srinivasa Raju, Sridhar Reddy Aredla, Gopagoni Kailasam and Srinivas Chitrapragada, have been sentenced to two years in jail. The case against surveyor Gopagoni Kailasam was abated following his demise. The CBI found that Damodar and the others had entered into a criminal conspiracy and caused a loss of Rs 57.07 lakh.
