New Aavin parlours to come up
Chennai: In order to boost the sale of milk and milk related products, the state government has decided to set up 17 new Aavin modern parlours at a total cost of Rs 8.50 crore.
Replying to the debate on the demand for the grants for his department, dairy development minister S.P. Shanmuganathan said that Aavin has 35 milk chilling facilities in the state and it would be uplifted at the cost of Rs 7 crore.
With the funds of the state government, rural development and panchayat raj, new buildings would be constructed for 100 Primary Milk Co-Operative Societies under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation scheme at a cost of Rs 10 crore, he said, adding that new buildings would be constructed for deputy registrar offices in Tiruvallur, Tuticorin, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Madurai at a cost of Rs 3.4 crore.
