PM Modi offers prayers before launching projects in Warangal

WARANGAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first act upon touching down in Warangal on Saturday morning was to visit the famous Sri Bhadrakali Devi temple, where he spent around 15 minutes offering prayers, five minutes and meditation and feeding green grass to cows at a ‘gowshala’ on the premises.

Officials said that Modi went straight from the Mamnoor Airport to the temple by road.

Upon his entry, Modi was given a warm welcome by the temple priests, along with a ‘purna kumbam’. After offering prayers to the deity, the Prime Minister was offered six different ‘prasadams’.

The temple was decorated beautifully, with a wide array of flowers, on the occasion.

Tight security arrangements were in place for Modi’s visit, with the SPG (special protection group), NSG (national security guards) and the local police in tow.

The police handled the logistics on the premises, putting restrictions in place to ensure devotees did not stray into the secured zone. Security officials allowed only six priests to be present in the temple and perform prayers during Modi’s visit.

From the temple, the Prime Minister went to the Arts and Science College, where he laid the foundation stones for various developmental works, which would be taken up at a cost of around ₹6,000 crore, in Warangal city. Later, he addressed the massive public gathering.
