CPM, CPI state leaders call for introspection

According to CPM leaders, the CPI should first put its house in order before criticising others.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With differences between CPM-CPI over the Munnar issue reaching a flash point, the state leadership of the two parties have advised each other to do some introspection. The sharp criticism of the government by CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran has not gone down well with the CPM leadership. They want the LDF leaders to avoid criticising the government policies in public.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has disapproved the manner in which CPI top leaders were criticising the government in the public. Such criticism is denting the image of LDF as a cohesive political front. The CPI leadership needed to do some introspection on whether public criticism was right while sharing equal responsibility for running the government. According to CPM leaders, the CPI should first put its house in order before criticising others.

They were referring to the serious differences within the CPI in Idukki district. On the issue of removal of encroachments, there were sharp differences between former deputy speaker C A Kurien and a section of Idukki leader with the State leadership. The CPM leaders point out that the CPI should first taken their own leaders on board.
