Chennai: Water tanker runs over IT employee
Chennai: A 26-year-old IT employee was crushed to death after a private water tanker hit his two-wheeler near Ambattur on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Naveen Kumar, a resident of Ayapakkam housing board quarters.
On Saturday morning, he was returning home after dropping his sister at work when he met with the accident, police said. He was riding along Ayapakkam road near MGR puram when the trailing water tanker hit his bike.
Naveen Kumar was thrown to the ground and came under the wheels of the tanker. He died on the spot. Poonamalee traffic investigation wing personnel rushed to the scene and moved the body to Kilpauk Medical college and hospital for autopsy.
Hunt is on for the truck driver who fled the scene fearing mob justice. On Thursday too, an IT employee, A. Anirudh (22) who was riding pillion in a motorbike was killed after a water tanker contracted to Metro water mowed down the bike he was riding on near Mandaveli.
