Chennai: Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) committee will release on June 22 the rank list for students who have applied for engineering counselling.
The random number for applicants will be released on June 20.

Announcing the schedule for TNEA 2016, Anna University Registrar S.Ganesan on Wednesday said, “Counselling for general  category students will start from June 27.”

Sports quota counselling will be held on June 24 and special counselling for differently-abled will be conducted on June 25,” he added.

Students can download their call letters by registering their register number, name and date of birth from the university’s website. This year, totally 1,34,722 students have applied for engineering counselling.

Compared to last year, 20,000 applications were less this year. Denying any downward trend in engineering applications, Ganesan said that though 1.54 lakh applied last year, only 1.10 lakh students took part in the counselling. So, the number of applications was more or less the same.

“Like last year, we expect around two lakh seats for this year as well. But the total number of seats available for single window counselling will be  announced on June 22.

For the first time, the university will provide overnight staying facility for girl students at the university campus this year. “If girl students who are coming from outstations with either their mother or sister need a place to stay, they can approach the university. After verifying their call letters,  they would be allowed to stay in university hostels,” said Indhumathi, secretary, TNEA.

However, the girl student and the accompanying person should vacate the hostel the following day as they will be allowed to stay only one night.
