Legal fraternity in shock, visit family of Aishwarya
HYDERABAD: Swetha, the cousin of US shooting victim T. Aishwarya, and her husband Vamsi, both techies based in Texas, are working to ensure that the mortal remains of the young engineer will be sent home to Hyderabad by Wednesday.
News of the death of Aishwarya, daughter of Ranga Reddy district and sessions judge T. Narsi Reddy, shocked the legal community in the city. Justice A. Abhishek Reddy of the Telangana High Court and a large number of lawyers from the Telangana High Court as well as other courts in the city visited the family to convey their condolences.
K. Raji Reddy, public prosecutor at the Ranga Reddy district court, stated that they knew the family well and that the news was shocking, and demanded stringent laws against the gun culture in the United States.
Reminiscing about Aishwarya, her relatives stated she came home for her elder brother Srikanth's wedding in April 2020, when she stayed for a month. She visited Hyderabad when her mother Aruna was diagnosed with a knee ailment in November 2022.
Her father Narsi Reddy's brother-in-law, businessman Nandyala Ram Reddy, informed his daughter Swetha Reddy and her husband Vamsi Reddy about the incident. They started inquiring about Aishwarya at various hospitals in the US where injured people were being treated, and later with the local police. They were later shown the bodies of those who were killed in the incident.
“Her face was disfigured, but we could recognise her. It looked as if she was shot from a very close range,” the couple told Ram Reddy and his wife Padma. Swetha and her husband Vamsi Reddy would frequently meet and spend time with Aishwarya because they lived nearby.
"Whenever she came to meet my daughter, she would video call and talk to us as well," Ram Reddy said.
