Case against TV channel for airing false Covid-19 news
Proprietor wanted to malign the reputation of the shop owner
Hyderabad: A regional news channel in the city was booked for allegedly airing false news related to Covid-19 on Wednesday.
According to Chaitanyapuri police, V3 News, owned by K Satyanarayana Gupta, had reported that a meat shop owner at Chaitayapuri X roads had tested positive for Covid-19.
All those who had purchase meat from the shop were asked to remain cautious about possible infection. On receiving information, police verified the facts and found it to be false news.
The proprietor Satyanarayana, a resident of Maruthi Nagar in Kothapet, reportedly cleared the news with mala-fide intention.
He wanted to malign the reputation of the shop owner, said police, who registered a case against Satyanarayana under relevant sections of NDM Act.
