Ramesh Chennithala writes to CM Pinarayi Vijayan criticising ad
THIRuVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala shot off an open letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the controversial PRD advertisement defending police action. He criticised the Left government’s strategy to whitewash their actions and alleged the LDF ridiculed a mother’s strike for justice. “If there is some conscience left in the CM’s heart, he should put away his pride and intervene. He must visit Mahija in the hospital and accept her demand,” Chennithala said. He sought to know if this was the proper way to respond to a mother’s strike and recalled Pinarayi’s experience as a victim of police assault in 1977.
“The police assault is still visible on your body. The police then took a stand that they had not beaten you. It should be recalled that you had made a historical speech in Assembly with your blood-smeared shirt and in your recent speech you boasted of walking through opponents holding unsheathed swords and knives,” he added Chennithala. He also criticized the move of the CM in denying bail to K. M. Shahjahan, former additional private secretary to veteran communist leader V. S. Achuthanandan. Chennithala alleged that it shows constitutional terrorism being practiced by Pinarayi Vijayan.
