Kochi: Looking to spend some quiet time at hill stations and backwaters to seek a respite from the scorching sun? The Ernakulam District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) has rolled out new tour packages that include the two-day Kochi-Valppara tour package, backwater tour and daily road trips to Muziris sites among others.
“This time around, we have started two-day tour packages in addition to the one-day tours. The main one is the Kochi-Valppara tour package under which 18 destinations will be covered. From next week onwards, we will start daily road trips to Muziris sites,” said a DTPC official.
While it costs Rs 3300 per head (including all expenses) for the two-day package, the ‘Muziris Visit’ will cost '600 per head. “Tourist spots like Paravur Jew Synagogue, Paliam Kovilakom, Kottayil Kovilakom, Cheraman Masjid, Kottapuram fort among others are included. Boating at Marine drive too will be extended to tourists,” the official said.
The one-day backwater tour priced at Rs 900 per head will cover 13 islands along the Periyar river including Kadamakudy, Kothadu, Pizhala, Thanthonnithuruthu and Moolampally. DTPC is offering ‘Week-end Tour Desk’ programme to Residents’ Associations, Flat Owners Association and similar groups.
“The tourist spots covered will be those lying nearly 100 kms from Kochi like Bhoothathankettu, Edamalayar, Ezhattumukhom, Kuttanad, Vazhachal, Kodanad and Munnar among others,” the official said. For more details contact DTPC Visitor Facilitation Centre. Phone -- 0484-6067716.
