HYDERABAD: Veteran actor Vijayashanti on Wednesday urged women to be bold in the face of adversity and not take extreme steps, such as contemplating dying by suicide or committing self-harm.
The BJP leader, speaking as the chief guest of the International Women’s Day celebrations at Vasaki Kalyana Mandapam, said: “My movies will make women brave and they should watch it.”
She said that women's organisations should visit colleges and create awareness of issues among girls and women.
“If any problem is noticed, counselling should be conducted to the girls and their parents. Resorting to commit suicide is not advisable,” she said.
Vijayashanti appreciated the role mothers-in-law play and urged elderly women to resolve problems between their sons and daughters-in-law. “Despite dominating the daughter in-law, women should respect the girl as their own daughter,” she said.
