ADILABAD: Parents are hesitant to send their children to school for regular classes following the recent rise in Covid positive cases and incidents of students getting hit by the virus in some schools in the old Adilabad district.
Some private school managements were taking consent from parents of children for starting regular classes for Classes VI to VIII from March 1. Parents suspect the schools were aiming to collect tuition fee.
Very few parents gave their consent even as school promised to ensure implementation of all Covid-norms at classes. “Let us wait for some more time,” many parents responded.
Upon tests, it was found that as many as five students out of 35 students of 9th and 10th classes contracted covid virus in the tribal welfare residential school in Boath mandal. The principal sent the affected students to their homes. Subsequently, many more students returned to their homes as they feared a health risk to them too.
Classes are being held for students of 9th and 10th classes in government and private schools. Parents, though, are preferring online classes for their children at least for some more time.
