Kakinada: Tragedy struck a tribal family of Erkampeta village in Chinturu mandal of Alluri Sitaramaraju district, leaving four children as orphans.
According to information, Kovvasi Kamala (27) of Guthikoya community gave birth to a still-born baby at the Government Hospital in Bhadrachalam. Following the delivery, she went into a coma.
Three hours after hearing the news, Kamala’s husband Ithaiah (28) suffered a cardiac arrest and died. Kamala too did not recover from coma and died on Sunday afternoon. This had been her seventh delivery. Only four of her kids have survived.
District additional district medical and health officer Dr. Pullaiah told this reporter that an ANM of the village had been following up on Kamala, whose pregnancy had been identified as high risk.
People of Erkampeta village have requested government officials to help the four children of Kamala and Ithaiah, as there is no one to look after them.
