Nizamabad family ends life in Vijayawada due to financial crisis
Suresh sent a message to his wife’s brother stating that his wife and youngest son were dead in Vijayawada

Vijayawada/Hyderabad: A four-member family from Nizamabad in Telangana state died by suicide at Vijayawada, reportedly due to financial issues, early on Saturday, police said.
Vijayawada One Town circle inspector P. Venkateswarlu identified the victims as Pappla Suresh, 56, his wife Srilatha, 48, Akhil, 28, and Ashish, 24.
Suresh owned a medical shop near the Nizamabad bus station which was shut down after a land dispute, while his son was working in a fuel station. The family was facing financial distress, and neighbours had lent them small amounts of money to bail them out.
The family arrived in Vijayawada on January 6 and reserved accommodation at a wedding hall.
Early on Saturday morning, Suresh sent a message to his wife’s brother stating that they had reached Vijayawada to end their lives, and that his wife and youngest son were dead. He said he was planning to die by suicide along with his elder son in the Krishna river.
When the family members alerted the police, the latter went to the wedding hall and found the bodies of Srilatha and Ashish, along with syringes, intraveneous tubes and needles and some medicines.
The police then went to the Prakasam barrage on the Krishna river, and located the bodies of Suresh and Akhil with the help of State Disaster Response Force personnel. Police have booked a case under section 174 of the CrPC and are investigating.
Suresh was said to be a native of Achanpally in Bodhan mandal. The bodies will be shifted to Kamareddy, where Suresh’s brother resides.
