Checks At AP-TS Border Villages

Vijayawada: NTR district police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata underlined that there is extensive vigil in the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana border villages to prevent any illegal activities that may impact the assembly election in Telangana.

Kanti Rana said deputy police commissioner Ajitha Vejendla had attended the Inter-State Multi-Departmental Coordination Meeting in Satthupally and Suryapet. They discussed various guidelines to be adopted in the context of Telangana elections.

The commissioner said they have established 12 check posts on the AP-TS border in the last 14 days. They have conducted 96 cordon and search operations, registered 350 cases and arrested 360 people for various anti-social activities.

Kanti Rana said that 13 vehicles, 4,848 bottles of liquor, 104.5 litres of illegal arrack and 255 kg of ganja have been seized. He said 848 persons have been bound over. 133 licensed personal weapons have been deposited at police stations, he added.
