Hyderabad: Once Thriving Community Park in Rajendranagar Turns into Neglected Jungle

Hyderabad: In what was once a thriving community park in the heart of Rajendranagar, a disturbing situation has arisen, leaving residents deeply concerned about their safety and the well-being of their children.

The neglected park near Pillar no 213, which used to be a favourite recreational spot for families, has now turned jungle-like, devoid of any suitable space for kids to play. To make matters worse, earlier this week, a resident stumbled upon a snake in the park's premises, sparking fear and outrage among the local population.

Alas, the sorry state of the park has not moved the authorities, who are yet to begin work on cleaning the premises and fencing it. Despite assurances made in June, the much-needed renovation work has not even begun, leaving residents disillusioned and frustrated.

Local resident Rina Sharma, a mother of two, expressed her distress, saying, "I used to bring my children to this park every weekend. It was a beautiful place for them to play and make friends. Now, I wouldn't dare bring them here. It's turned into a jungle, and who knows what dangers lurk there."

Another resident, Shayeeb Khan said that "In spite of many tweets and calls from all the colony residents, the authorities remain unfazed. We’re only asking for a healthy atmosphere."

Khan said that the town planner and assistant engineers had visited the place but had done nothing beyond that. "This is the only park in the vicinity," he said.

The situation is so alarming that even children have voiced their disappointment. Nine-year-old Aman, who wished to spend countless hours there, said, "Our school doesn't even have a ground large enough to play. It's the only way I can make and keep friends outside a screen. Now, it's scary here with all those wild plants and animals."

The lack of progress on the promised renovation work and the deteriorating condition of the park have raised concerns about the safety of the children and the overall quality of life of the residents. Authorities have said that plans to work on the area are in place, but there are no signs of prior civil works like bulldozing, cleaning, some shovelling and fencing.

Attempts to reach the circle manager for an official response went in vain.
