Chhattisgarh: Baghel reinstates OPS for state-owned Discoms staff

Raipur: Chhattisgarh cabinet has cleared the proposal for restoration of the old pension scheme for the employees of state-owned power companies.

The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel late on Friday evening, official sources said on Saturday.

The staff of these power companies who have been appointed after January one, 2004 would be benefitted by the decision.

Around 10,000 officers and employees of these companies would be benefitted by the move.

The cabinet also approved the proposal to establish the State Mahua Board to oversee collection, value addition, processing, and utilisation of Mahua, a forest produce collected by tribals.

The proposed board would also set up biodiesel or ethanol production through Mahua.

The cabinet also cleared the proposal to amend the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax (GST) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023.

The cabinet also revoked termination orders on the officers and employees of the state health department sacked under Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA) for going on strike.
