VISAKHAPATNAM: The State might not get any more rains from Friday as the low-pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal weakened and moved towards Chhattisgarh and further west.
“But another system is being formed in another week’s time,’’ said senior scientist of IMD Amaravati Dr. S. Karunasagar on Thursday.
He said presently, the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Indore, Betul, Gondia, Raipur, Gopalpur, and thence east-southeastwards to West Central Bay of Bengal extending up to 2.1 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.
The cyclonic circulation over south interior Odisha now lay over central parts of interior Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. An east-west shear zone runs roughly along Lat. 19° N between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level.
During the last 24 hours, Regidi Amadalavalasa received 12.6 cm of rainfall followed by Terlam 7.6 cm and Cheepurupalli 7.6 cm.
