AP to take up door-to-door health survey from Sept. 15

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government would take up a door-to-door health survey of the people from September 15, followed by health camps from September 30. The camps would provide health care to needy patients as part of the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha programme.

Health Minister Vidadala Rajani held a review meeting with Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu and other health officials at Mangalagiri on Thursday. She spoke of the month-long action plan to provide health care to the people across the state.

Accordingly, village/ward volunteers will visit the houses in their respective jurisdictions to identify the people’s health problems and they, in turn, would alert the ANMs and cluster health officers about these.

Health personnel would visit the houses where people have health problems and record the details of the ailments. They would also conduct blood pressure, blood sugar and other tests and maintain a record.

Health camps will be held in villages and wards with two specialist doctors and two PHC doctors attending each camp. Patients will be referred to hospitals if required.

The health minister said a specialist doctor from Aarogyasri network hospitals would also attend the health camp in each village in each mandal statewide a day.

She called upon the people to avail the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha facility and take better care of their health.

The minister said the tahsildar, MPDO and PHC medical officers would be the officials responsible for the health camps in rural areas. The municipal commissioner, municipal health officer and UPHC medical officers would take care of the camps in urban areas.

At each health camp, 105 types of medicines would be made available for free, in addition to keeping necessary medical equipment to treat the patients.
