Incessant rains lead to overflowing of water bodies in Telangana

The projects of Pedavagu, Kinnerasani and Singabhupalam in Bhadradri district were overflowing

Khammam/Kothagudem: Incessant rains led to the overflowing of water bodies in these regions. Some 1,000 cusecs of water was released from the Taliperu project in Charla mandal. The water level in Godavari river at Bhadrachalam was rising. It touched 35feet by 6pm on Tuesday, eight feet less than the first warning at 43feet.

The projects of Pedavagu, Kinnerasani and Singabhupalam in Bhadradri district were overflowing. River Munner received more water than it could hold. Wyra reservoir was at 20feet level against the full reservoir level of 18.3feet.

Kothagudem town recorded the highest rainfall of 235.2mm Tuesday. All roads in the coal town were full with rain water.

The rainfall of Mulakalapalli was 175mm,Tekulapalli 166mm, Julurpad 163mm, Burugumapahad 155mm, Paloncha 157mm, Manuguru 151mm, Bhadrachalam 128mm, Dummgudem 124mm, Yellandu 117mm, Dammapet 110mm, Aswapuram 105mm and Aswaraopet 104mm.

Mandals like Karepalli, Kamepalli, Sattupalli and Vemsoor in Khammam district received above 100mm rainfall on Tuesday.

The incessant rains for the last ten days with minor intervals hit the vending of goods including vegetables and fruits and also the livelihood of agricultural labourers in Khammam and Bhadradri districts. Farming operations were affected largely.

Farmers were unable to do farming due to the rains. Santhosh, a farmer in Kusumanchi, said he is unable to remove the weeds in his paddy fields due to the rains. Many crops were majorly damaged by the flooding.
