Visakhapatnam: Eye sight of a three-year-old child allegedly affected due to the medicine administered to cure TB at King George Hospital.

Alleging that their child Vasupalli Siddu lost his vision due to the medicine administered at TB centre, his family members staged a protest at the King George Hospital on Thursday.

According to the family members Siddu was admitted in children ward of the hospital with high fever in July. The doctors examined and told the fever is due to TB and advised to take medicines prescribed by the doctors there. But, in the two months his eye sight gradually diminished. “When we took him to a corporate hospital, the doctors told that medicine side reaction is affecting the vision.”

KGH Superintendent G. Arjuna said the child was treated for TB in paediatrics ward and the medicines were given by the TB centre which gets medicine from the government. “The medicine may have reacted, but it’s not a serious case. It will be fine once the medicine stopped.”
