Mumbai: NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad holds court' to punish molester
Mumbai: A video purportedly showing NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad “holding court” for a teenaged molestation victim, wherein she is seen hitting the accused has gone viral after the lawmaker uploaded the clip on social media.
On his Facebook, Awhad has uploaded a video in which a girl was seen slapping a boy in front of other people.
The 17-year-old victim, who lives in a nearby locality and the man who allegedly harassed her were called on Monday night to Awhad’s office, where the accused was “taught a lesson” by the girl and the supporters of the Kalwa-Mumbra legislator, the post with the video stated.
The post said that the victim was shocked and on the verge of committing suicide due to frequent harassment by the 22-year-old college student.
The alleged molester was handed over to the police after being “punished” by the victim, who is also a college student. Awhad helped her “like a family member and taught a lesson to the molester,” the post said.
When contacted the NCP MLA admitted that he had called the boy to his office and did not find anything wrong in the incident.
“The girl was harassed by the boy and she went into a depression. She is even undergoing psychiatric treatment and doctors have said that she might commit suicide. When I called the boy to my office he came with 20 people and ransacked the office. The girl lost her patience and slapped him. I was just standing there,” he said.
