Hyderabad: The state health and family welfare department aims to deworm about 1.6 crore children on National Deworming Day in Telangana on August 8.
According to the World Health Organisation, over 22 crore children in India are at risk from intestinal worm infections.
With the country suffering from one of the highest burden of worm infections and related morbidity, the deworming program is carried out every year.
The parents are provided with medicines to help fight the diseases.
