Kasaragod: Kin feel Sana is kidnapped, rule out drowning theory

The action council also demanded search operations in some of the suspected homes in the locality.

KASARGOD: For the last four days a family in Rajapuram is searching for their little girl, Sana Fathima, who has been missing since Thursday. Only the umbrella and slippers of the child was found near a stream. The child returned from the anganawadi along with her mother, and was last found playing in the portico, says Bappunkayath Ibrahim, father of the girl.

“Although we have left no stones unturned in our search, it has proved futile”, Ibrahim told reporters. Suspecting that Sana drowned in the stream through which there was a strong flow at that time due to torrential rains in the locality, the fire force and rescue workers searched the stream, the drain nearby and finally the Chandragiri River till 8 30 pm on Thursday, but no body was found.

Following up on reports that a rag-picker might have kidnapped Sana, the police alerted all police stations across the state and nearby station in neighboring Karnataka. Meanwhile, local people have formed an action council and demanded that the police conduct an investigation into the whatsApp messages sent by a man in the locality, saying that the girl was found. The action council also demanded search operations in some of the suspected homes in the locality.

“Many of my kith and kin believe that somebody might have kidnapped the girl with some dubious aims. But we hope for the best. Pray for her safe return”,Ibrahim said. The action council is planning to submit a complaint to the district police chief alleging police lethargy in acting on the issue. Police is planning to write off the case as a drowning incident, action council office bearers said.
