Andhra police suspect that the children could have been kidnapped by racketeers who force children into begging.

Chennai: A police team from Andhra Pradesh has sought the help of city police to trace three children, all six-year-olds, reported missing from their residences in Anantapur district in the last three months.

Andhra police suspect that the children could have been kidnapped by racketeers who force children into begging. According to an officer with the police team from Andhra, the children were reported missing in March, April and July in a similar manner. On March 12, A. Vikash who went to visit a relative admitted to Kadhiri town hospital, with his parents went missing from there. A month later, on April 3, A. Jaya Ullah, last seen playing outside his residence on Meghala street in Nallacheruvu, Anantapur, went missing police said.

Two months later, another six-year-old boy, N. Siva Sai was reported missing. He was on his way to school, but never turned up there, investigations revealed. Alarmed by the similarity of the cases, Anantapur district police formed special teams to trace the missing children.

As a part of investigations, the team has camped in the city to check if children were kidnapped and brought here for begging. Andhra police said that they would be visiting neighbouring states too to trace the children.
