BJP sets one week deadline for govt to regularise Panchayat Jr secretaries jobs

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Monday castigated the state government for threatening to remove agitating junior panchayat secretaries (JPS) from service, and declared support for their strike.

State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in a statement, warned the state government that it would have to face ‘serious consequences’ if it carried out its threat of removing the JPSs from service if they continued with their 11-day-old strike beyond Tuesday. He said the panchayat workers were demanding regularisation of their jobs after having been on probation for three years.

“The BJP is giving one week to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to keep the promise he had made in the Assembly that their services will be regularised. If this is not done, the BJP will gherao all ministers and the Chief Minister wherever they go. If need be, the BJP will take legal recourse to help the agitating employees,” Sanjay said.

“Why does KCR hate the panchayat junior secretaries? It is the state government that has not kept its promises to them. If those making a legitimate demand face such action, what should be done with the KCR government that never kept many of its promises to the people?” Sanjay asked.
