Basic nature of Constitution can't be changed: High Court judge Manavenda

KAKINADA: Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge Justice Manavendra Roy has made it clear that the basic nature of constitution cannot be changed. A bench consisting of 13 Judges delivered such an order in the Kesavananda Bharati Case in 1977, he said.

The 11th general body meeting of the Indian Lawyers Association (ILA) held at Rajamahendravaram on Sunday was presided by its state president Muppalla Subba Rao.

Participating in it as chief guest, Justice Roy said that in this case, six judges had refused and seven judges supported the judgment.

The AP high court judge Justice Akula Seshasai noted that there was an amendment to the Civil Procedure Code in 1972. He exhorted the junior advocates to have an in-depth study of the Civil Procedure Code.

He recalled the services of Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer and Justice Padmanabha Reddy to the association.

IAL state president Muppalla Subbarao said advocates are attacked and false cases booked against them. The Union Government should bring in the Advocates Protection Act and curb the police misuse of the Civil Procedure Code’s Section 41. AP bar council president Ganta Rama Rao, district principal judge Gandham Sunitha and others were present.
