Telugu Desam MP accused of attack on lineman
Anantapur: Telugu Desam leader and Rajya Sabha member C.M. Ramesh, attacked an electricity lineman B Vijayakumar, in Pottadurthi in Kadapa district on Sunday.
Mr Vijaykumar lodged a complaint with the Proddatur police. According to the lineman, he was on routine duty of clearing electricity lines of overgrown branches on Sunday. The process involves cutting branches of trees that interrupt power supply.
Some of the branches he cut were of trees located in the compound of Mr Ramesh. The latter’s staff informed him that the lineman had cut the branches recklessly.
The MP summonned the lineman and abused him, according to the complaint.
The lineman said that Mr Ramesh attacked him. Mr Vijaykumar claimed that he suffered injuries on his nose and other parts of his body and was taken to Proddatur hospital.
The police registered a case based on the complaint of Mr Vijaykumar that Mr Ramesh had obstructed him from carrying out his duties and had attacked him.
Yerraguntla police said the case will be transferred from the Outpost police and an investigation will be done. When this paper tried to contact Mr Ramesh on the phone, he was not available.
