Tourist-friendly circuits launched in Thrissur

DTPC links spots that can be covered in one day.

Thrissur: District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) on Friday launched six tourism circuits for the district so as to assist tourists in visiting import tourist spots in a day starting from morning to evening. Assistant Collector Krishna Teja had come up with the concept as a part of his training in Thrissur. The circuit was launched jointly by tourism minister A C Moideen and agriculture minister V S Sunil Kumar at a function held at Garuda International in Thrissur on Friday. 'Water tourism' connecting mini dams like Thumburmozhi and waterfalls like Athirappally, Charpa and Vazhachal and Munakkal Beach, 'dam tourism' with Vazhani, Peechi, Chimney and places like Vilangan Kunnu and Poomla are part of the circuit.

There is 'cultural circuit' including sites like Kerala Kalamandalam in Cheruthuruthi and Thrissur town. The other circuits are Muziris, back water tourism and as assorted circuit which is a mix of all the circuits. The aim is to help tourists in covering the destinations without any hiccups in a day and DTPC would provide brochures to guide the tourist on which circuit to choose.

Meeting on Pooram
A meeting was also held in Garuda International on the sidelines of the tourism circuit launch in which both the ministers along with Thrissur Pooram organisers took part. Secretary of Thiruvambadi devaswom M. Madhavankutty expressed his concerns over the issues regarding pooram fireworks in the meeting and the ministers told him that they would assist devaswoms in getting the nod for fire works from the office of chief controller of explosives in Nagpur.
