MALAPPURAM: The power minister M.M. Mani’s election campaign speech here on Friday took an ugly turn as he scoffed at Jishnu Prannoy’s mother Mahija who was hospitalized after the controversial police action during a protest on Wednesday. Mr Mani took a dig at Mahija saying that she has become a pawn in the hands of BJP and the UDF.
“Mahija has made it clear that she would meet the Chief Minister only after nabbing all the accused in Jishnu case. If the Chief Minister goes to meet her, she may shut the door and insult him. This would lead to other issues,” Mr Mani said while addressing a public gathering as part of the campaign for the LDF candidate at Musliyarangadi near Malappuram on Friday. He alleged that the BJP and the UDF were using Mahija for their political advantage. He also justified the Wednesday’s police action against Mahija and her relatives on the premises of headquarters of the state police in Thiruvananthapuram.
